I think people either charge by the project or by the page, although professional graphic artists often charge by the hour because they work quickly. I think coming up with a per page price might be a safe way to go. I can’t really say what the going rates for that would be but if I do some research I’ll come in and post another reply.

I just started making scrapbooks for other people here in the U.S. and recently made one for a elementary school in my town. I made one for a wedding (beginning of the bride and groom to their honeymoon) I charged for the book, any product’s I buy and/or make and give back to them and my time. That one took me 5 month’s to make and I charged the mother of the bride for what we talked about. I actually do go and talk to the people to get an idea of what they are like and to collect all the photo’s. (then put the photo’s on CD so I can use them on the computer).
Anyhow charging that way I get paid for my time (since I’m in the business to make money for my time) and that I’m providing a service for them (they would get it quicker then them making it themselves).
So anyhow….In May I told the principal of the school how I charge (see above) and I told him about the wedding one and I got paid well for that. I also told him all transaction’s are done in cash when book is delivered.
NOW I gave him the invoice and he “FREAKED” about the price. He though it was going to be $100.00 and I was going to charge “per/page”.
Question is how do you charge that way and how do you get your money back for the time and service you provide? I have never charged someone that way before.

IT VARIES IF ITS A DEDICATION/TRIBUTE SCRAPBOOK AND YOUR FAVORITE SUBJECT IS INVOLVED AND YOUR FRIENDS LIKE THE SAME SUBJECT HAS YOU I WOULD SAY A 30 PAGER ABOUT £2-£3. A PRESENT IT TO THEM BY HAND WITH A NICE MESSAGE INSIDE EXPLAINING WHY YOU DID IT.
